What Is InMode’s Lumecca? - Plastic Surgery Hub

Delivers significant, improvement to your skin in one to two treatments

InMode’s Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After just one treatment, patients notice significant improvements in their complexion and the clarity of their skin, resulting in patients looking healthier and years younger – what’s not to love?

What Makes InMode’s Lumecca Different to Other Light-based Devices?

The technology that is used in Lumecca uses a higher peak power in order to deliver a stronger result, which leads to fewer treatments than other IPL machines on the market. Harnessing up to three times more energy than other IPL machines, Lumecca can achieve complete photo rejuvenation in one or two treatments for most patients, compared to 4-6 treatments with standard IPL’s.

What Can InMode’s Lumecca Treat?

In as little as 1 to 3 treatment sessions using Lumecca, the appearance of the following improves:

  • Sun damage
  • Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
  • Rosacea (redness – often on the nose and cheek area)
  • Freckles

While most often used on the face, Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment include those that are exposed to the sun. This most often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms.

What can I Expect During and after a Lumecca Treatment?

Before treatment, it is advised that you avoid excess tanning one month prior to your treatment. During your treatment there will be a bright flash of light from the Lumecca machine that feels like a light snap of an elastic band.

There will be redness and a warming sensation of the skin, which is normal. This redness and feeling of warmth should subside within an hour. It’s always a good idea to be well hydrated prior to and after your treatment, as this helps your skin and body to respond well to the treatment.

Over the next 24-48 hours you would typically see a darkening of any pigmented spots – this is a great response! The darkening of age spots and sun damage is a good reminder of what your skin would look like as you age, if you didn’t treat it.

In the week after your treatment the pigmented lesions will then gently flake off – never pick or scrub this off, let your skin heal in its own good time. Once the skin has naturally peeled and healed, this will result in a dramatically more even skin tone.

Your skin will look fresher, more evenly toned and noticeably more youthful.

The facial area tends to heal quicker than other areas of the body as your facial skin ‘turns over’ more frequently than the skin on your body. If you had vascular lesions treated, you can expect to see the vein to disappear or the colour may change in the blood vessel which then dissipates after a few weeks.

How Many Lumecca Sessions are Required?

Everyone is different, but one of the many advantages of InMode’s Lumecca is the results are far better and more obvious, even after a single treatment! Your skin appearance improves after the first session, though multiple sessions will provide you with even better results.

Your treatment regime will be discussed with your Lumecca consultant. This is based on the severity of skin damage, your skin type, type of treatment (vascular versus sun damage) and the best energy settings for your skin. Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. The skin will continue to look younger and more brilliant over time with most visible results after 1 to 2 weeks. Having multiple treatments will improve the final result. For vascular treatments, results can be seen in up to 2 weeks.

Most patients do not experience any side effects, with any normal skin reaction usually resolving itself within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment and it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning for at least a month after your treatment – you don’t want to undo the good work and results!
